NEGERI SEMBILAN: UCSI Hospital marked its fourth anniversary today with the proclamation of Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz as its patron.
The event also saw the launch of the Centre of Education and Medical Training, the latest addition to UCSI Hospital.
In his speech, Tunku Zain expressed his honour in being appointed as patron.
“This appointment is a great responsibility and I pledge to carry out my duties with utmost dedication, commitment and accountability.” “I hope we can continue working together to enhance the quality of healthcare services and ensure that every patient who comes to this hospital feels valued and cared for with compassion.”
Tunku Zain, who also serves as UCSI University pro-chancellor, commended UCSI Hospital’s progress since its inception in 2021, particularly the Rakyat Wing programme, an initiative that provides affordable medical care for Malaysians in the B40 and M40 income groups, as well as uninsured foreign workers.
“Through Yayasan Munarah, where I serve as president and patron, we are ready to collaborate with UCSI Hospital through the Rakyat Wing programme to support those in need.”
“I am pleased to announce that UCSI Hospital and Yayasan Munarah will sponsor two patients to undergo coronary artery bypass graft heart surgery free of charge. Yayasan Munarah will identify patients who meet the criteria for this treatment.”
He also urged government leaders and policymakers to recognise the opportunities offered by the Rakyat Wing programme and take proactive steps to ease the burden on public hospitals.
“This is not about competition but collaboration for the benefit of the people. It is time to move beyond outdated mindsets and take bold action to connect available resources and better support the community.”
The event was attended by Negeri Sembilan Executive Council member Dato' Tengku Zamrah Tengku Sulaiman, UCSI Group founder and executive chairman Dato’ Peter Ng, UCSI Group
chief executive officer Prof Emerita Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir and UCSI Healthcare Group chairman Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
In his speech, Dr Noor Hisham highlighted the significance of the newly launched Centre of Education and Medical Training, which will introduce specialised programmes such as the Breast and Endocrine Fellowship and ultrasound courses for medical students and general practitioners.
“This centre will serve as the cornerstone of UCSI Hospital’s commitment to medical education, fostering excellence in healthcare training and enhancing patient care through continuous learning.”
The centre will oversee a comprehensive range of educational initiatives, including local and international collaborations, fellowship programmes, medical and nursing student placements, clinical attachments and observerships across various medical and surgical specialties, among others.
The centre will also collaborate with Universiti Putra Malaysia to establish the Joint International Fellowship in Hybrid Molecular Imaging and Diagnostic Oncology and partner with UCSI University Graduate Business School to offer an MBA in Healthcare and Hospital Management, ensuring world-class educational and research opportunities.
Established in 2021, UCSI Hospital is part of the UCSI Health Metropolis, a mega project aimed at transforming Springhill into a premier medical tourism hub.
